How to claim compensation
1. Gather proof
- Booking confirmation and boarding pass
- Scheduled vs actual arrival time (airline app, airport screens, FlightAware, etc.)
- Receipts for expenses if claiming care (meals, hotel)
2. Check eligibility
Use our calculator or a partner’s free check. Confirm route, delay length, and whether extraordinary circumstances were claimed.
3. Submit to the airline
Most airlines have online complaint forms. Reference EU261 or UK261 explicitly. Response times vary from weeks to months.
4. Escalate if rejected
- National enforcement body (e.g. CAA in UK, national NEB in EU)
- Small claims or specialized claim companies
- Alternative dispute resolution schemes where available
5. Or use a claim partner
Partners take a success fee but handle persistence and legal escalation. Good option if the airline ignored you or cited weather without evidence.
